"My son was excited for camp but had little experience. By week's end he was fully involved and invested. He learned so much and loved seeing his ideas come to life on the big screen."

Final Premiere
Camp ends with a family screening of finished films.
Campers work together to create a short film from idea to premiere — learning real filmmaking skills while having an unforgettable week.

Campers brainstorm original ideas, develop characters, build story structure, and write a production-ready script for their short film. Every voice contributes to the story.

Learn how to plan and direct scenes, frame compelling shots, and operate professional-grade cameras and filmmaking equipment with guidance from working directors.

Campers use green screen technology and practical special effects to bring their ideas to life—whether that’s flying through space, escaping explosions, or creating cinematic illusions

Step in front of the camera and learn screen acting techniques — from hitting marks and working with dialogue to conveying emotion on screen. Every camper gets on-camera time.

Bring the story to life visually with creative set decorations, handmade props, costume styling, and character-driven makeup design.

Learn the fundamentals of video editing — assembling footage, cutting for pacing, adding titles and transitions, and syncing music cues to complete the final film.
Film Camp gives kids more than a fun week. It gives them the chance to collaborate, express themselves, build new skills, and see their ideas come to life on screen. Whether your child is picking up a camera for the first time or already making videos at home, our Austin filmmaking camp is designed to meet them exactly where they are.
📽 Book a SpotNo prior filmmaking or acting experience needed — we welcome all skill levels and make sure every camper feels confident from day one.
Kids gain real confidence by creating something they're proud of — collaborating, performing, problem-solving, and leading on set.
Storytelling, scriptwriting, directing, camera work, acting, and editing — practical skills your child can carry far beyond camp week.
Every session ends with a special red-carpet screening where family and friends celebrate the campers' finished film together.
Both sessions take place at Magellan International School in Austin from 9am–4pm. Spots are limited — reserve early.

Each day builds on the previous, creating a complete filmmaking journey from initial concept to final premiere.
Campers arrive as curious beginners and leave as confident young filmmakers with finished productions they created themselves. Here's exactly what happens during the week:
Morning (9 AM – 12 PM): Camp kicks off with high-energy acting games and improvisation exercises designed to build confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Campers learn how to express emotion, develop characters, and perform on camera—skills they’ll use throughout the week.
Afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM): Lights, camera, action! Campers jump into filmmaking by creating two short films—a spooky horror and a fast-paced action-comedy. Working in teams, they take on all aspects of production, including directing, acting, camera operation, and storytelling, bringing their ideas to life from script to screen.
Morning (9 AM – 12 PM): The creativity kicks into high gear as campers develop their own original films. They’ll brainstorm ideas, write scripts, storyboard key scenes, and hold fun auditions to cast their projects. Every child gets a chance to step into different roles, building confidence while learning how real films are planned and brought together.
Afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM): It’s time to hit the set! Campers begin filming their movies using real on-set locations and exciting green screen technology. Working as a team, they take on hands-on production roles—directing, acting, operating cameras, and managing scenes—bringing their stories to life in a fun, supportive, and professional environment.
Morning (9 AM – 12 PM): It’s time for reshoots and perfecting performances! Campers review their footage with instructors, identify ways to make scenes stronger, and jump back on set to capture anything they need—whether it’s refining acting moments, improving camera shots, or adding extra coverage. This is where films level up, and campers learn how professionals polish their work to make every moment count.
Afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM): The magic comes together in post-production! Campers dive into editing their films, shaping scenes, cutting performances, and building the story beat by beat. They’ll also explore sound design—adding music, sound effects, and dialogue to bring their films to life. By the end of the day, their projects start to feel like real movies, with energy, emotion, and cinematic impact.

Film Camp Austin is designed for children ages 7 to 14. We group campers by age and experience level to ensure appropriate challenges and collaboration. Younger campers (ages 7–10) focus on creativity, teamwork, and foundational storytelling skills, while older campers (ages 11–14) dive deeper into technical filmmaking and take on more complex production roles.
No prior experience is necessary. Our summer film camp curriculum is built for complete beginners while still engaging kids who may have some experience with cameras, video editing, or acting. Whether your child has never held a camera or already makes videos at home, they'll learn new skills, discover new interests, and have an incredible week with fellow young filmmakers.
Campers should bring a packed lunch, a refillable water bottle, and comfortable clothes they can move in easily. We provide all filmmaking equipment, materials, and snacks throughout the day. If your child has costume pieces or props they'd like to use in their film, they're welcome to bring them. We recommend labeling all personal items with your child's name.
We offer full refunds for cancellations made 14 or more days before camp starts. Cancellations made 7–13 days before the start date receive a 50% refund. Within 7 days of camp starting, we offer credit toward a future Film Camp session rather than a monetary refund. We understand plans change and are happy to work with families to find solutions.
We keep camp sizes intentionally small for quality instruction and personalized attention. Each session has a maximum of 12 campers total, divided into smaller production teams of 4–6 campers each. This ensures every child receives meaningful guidance, hands-on time with equipment, and personal feedback throughout the week.
Yes! Every camper gets both on-screen acting time and behind-the-camera production experience throughout the week. We rotate roles so each child works as director, camera operator, actor, and editor. Our instructors balance roles carefully so everyone contributes meaningfully to the final film — whether they prefer performing or working behind the scenes.
All camp activities take place indoors, so weather never affects our schedule or programming. Our studio environment is fully climate-controlled with all the space needed for filming, workshops, rehearsals, and activities — rain or shine.
Absolutely! The Friday premiere is a highlight for the whole family. We welcome parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends to join us starting at 3:00 PM for the red-carpet screening event. Watching your young filmmaker walk the red carpet and present their completed work is a moment families tell us they remember long after camp ends.
Our Glendale studio location at Solar Studios is centrally positioned in LA's entertainment corridor, making it easily accessible for families throughout Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. We welcome young filmmakers from communities across the region:
Easy freeway access via 134 Freeway, 2 Freeway, 5 Freeway, and 210 Freeway with ample free parking
